At the SAVOIR WG meeting #23 (12/2/2014), the SAVOIR Advisory Group has decided to setup a new working group for the definition of the functional and interface requirements of the on-Board Mass Memory function and its management, called “MAss Storage Access Interfaces and Services" working group.

The SAVOIR-MASAIS Working Group main goal is the definition of the functional, performance, operational and interface requirements of the on-Board Mass Memory function and its management (SAVOIR Mass Memory specification). The requirements are organized in a document that uses the template of the SAVOIR OBC spec (Functional, Performances and Interface Requirements).

The first step is to analyse the existing SRDs to consolidate system/operability requirements. This is done by gathering agencies and primes in a Working Group (SAVOIR-MASAIS Working Group v0: ESA, CNES, DLR, Airbus, TAS and OHB) to produce the first version of the SRD/OIRD requirements related to Mass Memory function and lessons learnt.

The first version of the SRD/OIRD requirements related to Mass Memory function and lessons learnt have been presented at ADCSS2014.

In a second step, the SAVOIR-MASAIS Working Group is extended to integrate mass memory industry representatives (SAVOIR-MASAIS Working Group v1) with the objective to review the SRD/OIRD requirements and contribute to the definition of the functional, performance, operational and interface requirements of the on-Board Mass Memory function and its management (S/s or Unit Specification) in interaction with the File Management System Interface Standardization (FMSIS) TRP activity (TEC-SW)
